One of the biggest misconceptions in wedding planning is that Day-Of Coordination means your coordinator shows up on the wedding day and handles everything.
It doesn't.
Day-Of Coordination works best when the wedding is already planned, organized, and ready to be handed off. Your coordinator is stepping in to manage an existing plan, not build the plan.
And that distinction matters.
Think of Day-Of as:
“We've planned the wedding. We need someone to execute it.”
Your major vendors are booked. Contracts are finalized. Your guest details and floor plan are established. Your design decisions are made. The major logistics are in place.
Now you need someone to take the reins and make sure everything happens according to plan.
Day-Of is a great option if you genuinely enjoy planning and want to maintain control of your wedding decisions.
You get professional execution on the wedding day without having a coordinator involved throughout the entire planning process.
Here's the catch: you have to actually have a plan.
If you're still booking vendors, finalizing logistics, figuring out your floor plan, or making major decisions shortly before your wedding, those tasks don't disappear because you hired a Day-Of coordinator.
Your coordinator also has less time to become familiar with your wedding, your priorities, your vendors, and all of the details you've carefully planned.
And sometimes couples discover that what they really needed wasn't Day-Of Coordination. They needed someone to help them get ready for the handoff.
That's where Month-Of comes in.
Think of Month-Of as:
“We've done most of the planning. Now we need a professional to organize the final details and get us across the finish line.”
Month-Of gives your coordinator time to review your plans, contracts, vendors, timeline, logistics, and outstanding details before the wedding day.
It allows loose ends to be identified, vendor communication to transition, and the final execution plan to come together.
Most importantly, you get to enjoy your final weeks instead of managing them.
The tradeoff? Month-Of requires a greater investment because you're receiving more time, involvement, and management.
Ask yourself:
Are my major vendors booked?
Are my contracts finalized and organized?
Is my floor plan substantially complete?
Are my ceremony and reception details established?
Are my major planning decisions already made?
Could I hand someone my planning information today and have them understand exactly what needs to happen?
If you answered yes across the board, Day-Of Coordination may be a great fit.
If you answered no to several of these, Month-Of Coordination may better serve you.
And if you're still actively planning, you may need a different level of support altogether.
Day-Of isn't necessarily the “better deal.” It's simply a different service.
It works beautifully for couples who have done the planning and need a professional to take over the execution.
But if your wedding still has significant moving pieces, waiting until the last minute can create unnecessary stress for everyone involved.
Your coordinator shouldn't have to walk into your wedding with a clipboard and a prayer.
Your wedding should be ready for the handoff.
At The Crowder Concept, we don't believe in putting every couple into the same package. Every coordination inquiry begins with a consultation and planning review so we can assess what's already in place and determine the level of support your wedding actually needs.
Let's make sure you have the right plan, the right support, and a wedding day that feels as good as it looks.
